Origins of Goji Berry
The true origin of the Goji Berry is unknown, but it is suspected that the berry originates from South-Eastern Europe or South-Western Asia. The majority of Goji Berry plantations are situated in China, a country which provides optimal growing conditions for the berry; floodplains. As the name suggests, the ingredient is a berry which belongs to the Nightshade family. The berries grow on plants that can mature to heights of 10ft. Flowers appear in arrays of one to three per stem, and the berry grows from the flower.
Goji Berries have been part of Asian traditions and Chinese medicine for thousands of years. The berry is popular in dried form, sold in many supermarkets as a dried fruit. The berry is also added to many Chinese dishes or mixed with various flowers to produce herbal teas.
Please be aware that the Goji Berry may go by the name of Wolfberry or its botanical name, Lycium babarum.
Benefits of Goji Berry
The health benefits ascertained from the Goji Berry have not been extensively researched, but the research available suggests that Goji Berries can contribute to muscular health. Goji Berries are rich in betaine, a substance that protects cells, proteins and enzymes from environmental stress, maintaining cell integrity. Another role of betaine is its function in cellular production which can aid the normal function of muscles. Betaine also contributes to normal homocysteine (an amino acid) metabolism which is found within muscles and can lead to a decreased risk of disease.
Our Goji Berry tablets
Our Goji Berry tablets are sold in two strengths of 1,500mg and 3,000mg, provided in four quantities. The tablets are either 6mm or 9mm depending on the Goji Berry concentration. This makes the tablet very easy to swallow and ingest.
Please note - we recommend that both the 500 and 1,000 tablet options are more suitable for use by more than one person. This is to ensure that you are receiving full use of the product before its expiry date. For one person's use, we recommend the 120 or 240 tablet options.
