Milk thistle, also known as silybum marianum or Mary thistle, is a herbaceous plant that is a part of the asteraceae family. Milk thistle is native to Europe, specifically the Mediterranean region, and has been introduced and naturalised in America, Africa, Australia, and Asia.
Milk thistle is an annual or biennial plant that has a prickly flower head, purple flowers, and milky white veins. It has historically been used as an edible plant for various health benefits, with the use of it dating back to the 1st century AD.
The main active component of milk thistle is silymarin and is extracted from the ripe seeds of milk thistle. Silymarin is a C25 composed of compounds called flavonolignans, including silibin A, silibin B, taxifolin, isosilibin A, isosilibin B, silichristin A, and silidiani.

Our milk thistle tablets contain 72mg of silymarin per 150mg of product. One to two tablets are taken per day and we offer different packet sizes, making it easy to meet your nutritional needs. Our supplier's ingredients are tested at independent third-party labs with ISO17025 certification to ensure the quality and safety of the materials we use. We manufacture and package our own tablets here in Oxfordshire at our certified facility.
