Men and women have very different nutritional needs, just as 18 year olds have different requirements to those over the age of 70 years. Our in house accredited Nutritionists have formulated a multivitamin, specifically designed for Men Under 50 years old. The vitamins and minerals included in this Multivitamin tablet have been carefully selected and quantified to include the following; Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B12, C, D3, E and K2, in addition to Biotin, Calcium, Chromium, Copper, Folic Acid, Magnesium, Manganese, Iodine, Iron, Sodium and Zinc. We recommend taking two tablets daily.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is available in two main forms. Our Multivitamin tablets include retinol, the form of Vitamin A that generally originates from animals. A deficiency in Vitamin A can cause night blindness, a type of vision impairment. The vitamin also contributes to the health of the immune system by playing a role in the maintenance of mucous membranes, in addition to the prevention of fatigue, maintenance of normal skin and the normal process of cell specialisation.  Our Multivitamin tablets for men provide 800mcg of Vitamin A per serving.

The B vitamins

The B vitamins are well known for their energy-enhancing properties, reducing the symptoms of fatigue and tiredness.

Vitamin B1

Every two Multivitamin tablets contain 1.3mg of Thiamin which meets the recommended value for Vitamin B1, set by Public Health England. Thiamin intake prevents Beriberi, the deficiency disease of the vitamin that affects the cardiovascular and circulatory systems or induces muscle paralysis. Vitamin B1 also supports normal energy metabolism and normal functioning of the nervous system, brain and heart.

Vitamin B2

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) plays a role in the production of normal red blood cells and the metabolism of Iron. This aids the reduction of symptoms of fatigue and tiredness. The vitamin is also required for the correct functioning of the nervous system, and maintenance of the mucous membranes and energy metabolism. This contributes to further reduction of fatigue symptoms, in addition to its antioxidative properties. Two tablets provide 1.5mg Riboflavin.

Vitamin B3

As with the other B vitamins, Vitamin B3 (Niacin) contributes to energy production levels alongside the maintenance of normal skin, the mucous membranes, cognitive function and the nervous system. One serving of our Multivitamin tablets provides 60.0mg of Vitamin B3.

Vitamin B5

Vitamin B5, otherwise known as Pantothenic Acid, contributes to normal energy production levels which are especially vital for hard workers, reducing symptoms of fatigue. The water-soluble vitamin also works to maintain normal mental performance and is required for the production of steroid hormones, Vitamin D and certain neurotransmitters. Two of our Multivitamin tablets provide 10.0mg of Vitamin B5.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) is primarily known for its involvement in cysteine and homocysteine production, two amino acids that build proteins. The vitamin is also vital for normal protein, glycogen (a carbohydrate) and energy metabolism, allowing busy men to utilise the energy from these nutrients. Red blood cell formation, the nervous system and the immune system also rely on Vitamin B6, reducing fatigue and tiredness. Additionally, Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of normal hormonal activity. Two of our Multivitamin Tablets for Men Under 50 includes 2.0mg of Pyridoxine.

Vitamin B12

These Multivitamin tablets provide Methylcobalamin, one of the four forms of Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 reduces feelings of tiredness via the production of energy metabolism and the correct functioning of the immune system. The vitamin also plays a role in the normal formation of red blood cells which carry oxygen around the body, contributing to energy levels. Methylcobalamin also supports normal functioning of the nervous system, brain and cell division process. Vegetarians and vegans are at a higher risk of Vitamin B12 deficiency and, therefore, require additional Vitamin B12 due to the nature of the food sources containing the vitamin.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C has two main functions. Firstly, it aids the absorption of non-haem Iron. Secondly, the vitamin is a potent antioxidant, protecting our cells from damaging and highly reactive free radicals. In addition to these two primary functions, Vitamin C maintains the function of the immune system, reduces feelings of fatigue, benefitting the normal physiological function and energy production levels. Two of our Multivitamin tablets contains 100.0mg of Vitamin C which meets the DRV set by Public Health England.

Vitamin D3

There are three types of Vitamin D - Vitamin D3 is the form produced by the action of sunlight on the skin, found in specific food sources. Vitamin D contributes to the absorption and use of Calcium and Phosphorous, including normal Calcium blood levels which maintain healthy bones and teeth to prepare for when our bones begin to weaken as we age.

Vitamin E

The main role of Vitamin E is to act as an antioxidant, protecting cells from free radicals. These are highly reactive molecules that cause damage to our DNA, proteins and lipids via oxidative stress. Our Multivitamin tablets provide 13.4mg Vitamin E per serving.

Vitamin K2

Vitamin K2 is a form of Vitamin K, and there are nine forms of Vitamin K. Vitamin K2-MK9 is the subgroup of Vitamin K included in these Multivitamin Tablets for Men Under 50 Years. Vitamin K is primarily known for its blood clotting properties to prevent excessive blood loss and close open wounds. The vitamin also plays a role in bone health by supporting Calcium absorption in the body.

Biotin

Biotin, also known as Vitamin B7, is required for the maintenance of normal hair, skin and mucous membranes. Macronutrient (carbohydrates, proteins and fat) and energy metabolism also rely on Biotin, as well as the normal functioning of the nervous system and brain. Two of these Multivitamin tablets contain 30.0mcg.

Calcium

Calcium works in collaboration with Vitamin D as the mineral can’t be absorbed without the presence of the vitamin, needed to maintain healthy and strong bones and teeth. The mineral also supports normal blood clotting, energy metabolism, muscle function and the transmission of nerve impulses. Additionally, Calcium benefits the normal function of digestive enzymes to enhance the efficiency of food digestion, as well as being required in the process of cell division.

Chromium

Chromium contributes to the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels, reducing the rate of sudden spikes or falls in blood glucose which affects our food cravings and energy levels. Chromium also plays a role in the normal synthesis of macronutrients (carbohydrates, protein and lipids) to maintain the energy levels.

Copper

Oxford Vitality provides 0.8mg of Copper in every two tablets. Copper is a trace mineral, essential for the body but only required in small amounts. The mineral maintains the connective tissues, normal functioning of the immune system, regular skin and hair pigmentation and promotes normal energy metabolism. Copper also supports the transport of Iron in the body and provides antioxidant properties.

Folic Acid

Men currently require 200mcg of Folate, a nutrient of which Folic Acid is a subgroup within. One serving of our Multivitamin tablets for Men Under 50 Years provides 200mcg of Folic Acid which meets Public Health England’s recommendations.

Iodine

Iodine works similarly to the B vitamins to generate and regulate energy production. The trace mineral aids the functioning of the nervous and cognitive systems, the production of thyroid hormones and normal thyroid hormones, and the maintenance of normal skin. Vegetarians and vegans may be at a higher risk to Iodine deficiency, due to the nature of food sources containing Iodine.

Iron

Iron is a well-known trace mineral, essential for oxygen transportation around the body. Oxygen is transported around the body in red blood cells which contain haemoglobin, protein molecules that bind oxygen molecules together. This helps reduce the symptoms of fatigue and tiredness, promoting energy metabolism. Two Multivitamin tablets provide 9.0mg of Iron which meets the recommendation set by Public Health England.

Magnesium

There are many health benefits to supplementing with Magnesium, including the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, contributing to the normal function of the brain, and the normal synthesis of proteins which aids muscle function. Magnesium is also partly responsible for energy production and the functioning of the nervous system in addition to normal cell division.

Manganese

Manganese is another mineral reputed for its energy-yielding properties. The trace mineral is needed to activate certain enzymes in the body, which are useful for breaking down food, and plays a role in the maintenance of healthy bones and connective tissue. This is why Manganese is popular for bone health, an important factor even when we are young as our bone density decreases between 20 and 30 years. Oxford Vitality provides 2.0mg of Manganese in every two Multivitamin tablets.

Selenium

Selenium contributes to normal spermatogenesis, the maintenance of hair and nails, and is needed for the healthy functioning of the immune system. The thyroid also requires Selenium to function normally and the mineral also provides antioxidative properties.

Zinc

Zinc is a very important trace mineral, essential for normal DNA synthesis and the metabolism of acid-base substances, carbohydrates, protein, fatty acids and Vitamin A. Zinc also plays a role in cognitive function, fertility and reproduction, as well as protein synthesis and the maintenance of normal bones.
