Nettle, or stinging nettle, is a shrub that comes from northern Europe and Asia. Its scientific name is Urtica dioica, which comes from the Latin word uro, which means “to burn,”. The plant boasts pretty, heart-shaped leaves and yellow or pink flowers, but the stem is covered in tiny, stiff hairs that release stinging chemicals when touched. Once it is processed into a supplement, dried, freeze-dried or cooked, the sting is neutralised and the nettle can be consumed. It has been traditionally used to make tinctures, teas and nutritious winter soups.
Bromelain is a protein-digesting enzyme mixture derived from the stem, fruit, and juice of the pineapple plant. It has a long history of being used extensively throughout Central and South America.
Elderberry is a family of flowering shrub species native to North America and Europe. Also known as elder, these plants produce bunches of tiny berries that are dark in color — usually purple, blue, or black. Elderberries typically have a tart flavour and have been used in jams, wine and teas for centuries.
Beta glucan is one form of soluble dietary fiber. You can find it in whole grains, oats, bran, wheat, and barley and yeast. The Beta Glucans in our tablets come from Saccharomyces cerevisiae, a species of yeast. The species has been instrumental in winemaking, baking, and brewing since ancient times. It is believed to have been originally isolated from the skin of grapes.
