Our Neuro Vitamin tablets contain four ingredients formulated together to aid normal neurological functions.
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 is a water-soluble vitamin that is available in three forms. The form we use in our Neuro Vitamin tablets is known as Pyridoxine Hydrochloride. The vitamin was founded in 1934 and is naturally found in many foods, including wholegrain cereals, eggs, pork, poultry, fish, peanuts and milk. The vitamin also occurs in fruit and vegetables such as sweet potato and spinach. Vitamin B6 aids glycogen (a carbohydrate) and energy metabolism which is an important trait as our brain utilises 20% of our energy. The vitamin also plays a part in normal psychological function and contributes to the functioning of the nervous system. This means that Vitamin B6 is involved with the normal functioning of neurotransmitters, chemicals that are released within a nerve to produce a physical action. In order for this to take place, the brain must send a signal for the release of a neurotransmitter.
Vitamin B12
There are four main forms of Vitamin B12 - our Neuro Vitamin tablets use the Vitamin B12 Methyl Cobalamin form which naturally occurs in the body. Our body can store the vitamin for around 4 years which is why it takes a long period of time before a deficiency condition is noticed. Vitamin B12 is only synthesised naturally in products of animal origin such as meat, poultry, eggs and milk. Some plant-based foods are fortified with the vitamin to reduce a deficiency including soya milk or vegan-friendly cheese. Those deficient in the vitamin are typically vegans and vegetarians. Vitamin B12 plays a role in psychological function which contributes to vitality. Additionally, Vitamin B12 is vital in the process of normal energy metabolism and energy production.
Vitamin D3
Vitamin D3 is commonly known for its deficiency disease, rickets. Rickets is a condition that occurs in children, causing bowed legs which are unable to support the body's weight. Adults can also suffer from Vitamin D3 deficiency - the condition is known as osteomalacia. We obtain Vitamin D through the action of sunlight on our skin, although several foods do contain small amounts of Vitamin D, including oily fish and liver products. Vitamin D supplements are highly recommended in countries where there is little or weak sunlight. The role of Vitamin D3 is to help with the absorption of Calcium and Phosphorous in the blood. The vitamin also plays a role in cell division and the normal function of the immune system.
Folic Acid
Folic acid, also referred to as Folate, was discovered in the 1930s. The nutrient was first extracted from a spinach leaf, hence the reasoning behind its name as folia means 'leaf' in Latin. Folic acid can be found in green leafy vegetables such as Brussels sprouts, spinach, broccoli and kale. The water-soluble B vitamin can also be found in beans and legumes, yeast and beef extracts, oranges, wholegrain foods, poultry and pork. Folic acid is essential during pregnancy to prevent serious neural tube defects (NTDs) in the developing foetus, including Spina Bifida. Pregnant women and those wishing to conceive are advised to take a minimum of 400mg of Folic acid each day from the time their menstrual cycle begins. However, if this is not possible, then Folic acid supplementation should begin as soon as possible. In addition, Folic acid contributes to the health of the immune system and promotes normal psychological function.
