Our OV Women's Vitality Pack has been specifically designed with women in mind, taking into account their nutritional needs and requirements. The pack includes five different tablets which should be taken alongside a healthy, balanced diet. The tablets included consist of Iron, Beetroot, Omega 3, Calcium and Vitamin D, and our Skin, Hair and Nails tablets. This pack contains adequate supply for up to four months of use.
Iron
Iron is a mineral that is available in two forms: haem and non-haem. Haem sources are easier to absorb and are found in animals products whereas non-haem sources are more readily absorbed in the presence of Vitamin C and originate from plant-based sources. We store around 3-4g of Iron which is spread throughout our bodies, from the muscles and tissues to the proteins in the blood and bone marrow. Iron benefits the production of red blood cells and haemoglobin, enhancing the efficiency of oxygen transportation around the body to prevent symptoms of fatigue. The mineral also plays a role in normal cell division to produce new and healthy cells, including those within the immune system. Iron is also a component of the blood. Women lose blood each month with the menstrual cycle, therefore losing Iron. This is why women have a higher Iron requirement than men.
Beetroot
The Beetroot we know is the bulb of the Beta vulgaris plant. The vegetable is rich in Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Folic Acid, Magnesium, Potassium and Nitrates. Vitamin B6 contributes to normal cysteine and homocysteine synthesis, two amino acids which produce a compound that is essential for our immune system. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that regenerates other antioxidants, such as Vitamin E, as well as aiding the absorption of non-haem sources of Iron. Folic Acid supplementation is recommended for women as soon as the menstrual cycle occurs, particularly for those wishing to conceive in the future. Folic Acid reduces the risk of Neural Tube Defects, such as Spina Bifida. Magnesium is believed to benefit the normal function of both the muscle and nervous systems, in addition to benefiting symptoms of PMS.
Omega 3
Omega 3 is a fatty acid which is mainly available in three forms; alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Many people know that Omega 3 naturally occurs in oily fish, but the fatty acid is also found in vegetable oils, nuts and seeds. Omega 3 is essential for the maintenance of normal cholesterol levels in the blood and normal functioning of the heart. Omega 3 also helps to reduce triglycerides, a fat that is abundant in our blood after a meal. Reducing the triglycerides in our blood causes a decrease in the risk of cardiovascular disease. Omega 3 is also essential for women who are pregnant as the fatty acid contributes to the development of the foetus' eye and normal brain development.
Calcium and Vitamin D3
Calcium is an essential mineral that was founded in 1808. The mineral works in harmony with Vitamin D, a fat-soluble vitamin. There are three main forms of Vitamin D, including the Vitamin D3 which is incorporated into this tablet. The presence of Vitamin D3 is required for calcium absorption. The two ingredients also play a role in reducing the loss of bone mineral in post-menopausal women.
Skin, Hair and Nails tablets
Our Skin, Hair and Nails tablets contain a formula of six nutritional ingredients; Grape Seed extract, Vitamins A, C and E, Biotin and Selenium. Grape Seed extract contains two primary active ingredients, Grape Antioxidant Dietary Fibre (GADF) and Oligomeric Proanthocyanidin Complexes (OPC), both of which offer antioxidative properties. Vitamins C and E and also both antioxidants, and the former aids the formation of collagen which is the most abundant protein in our body. Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is available in two forms; retinol and beta-carotene, which contribute to normal skin. Biotin was originally known as Haar und Haut, meaning 'hair and skin' in German. This is in line with Biotin's property to contribute to the maintenance of normal hair, skin and mucous membranes.
