Origins of Royal Jelly
Royal Jelly, which is also known as Bee Milk, is a thick, nutritious substance that worker bees fed to bee queen larvae. It is secreted from glands in the heads of the bees. While worker and drone larvae are fed royal jelly for the first three days of their life, queen bee larvae are fed throughout the whole larval period. Queen bee larvae live and feed in special ‘queen cells’, that worker bees fill with royal jelly. The Queen bee is fed royal jelly throughout her life.
Interestingly, although queen bees are genetically identical to worker bees, they grow and develop in completely different ways. They grow up to 1.5 times larger in size than worker bees and live longer. In addition, unlike worker bees, queen bees are sexually mature and able to mate.
Throughout history, royal jelly has been a common luxury for the royalty. In traditional Chinese medicine, royal jelly was prescribed for long life and vitality, and was known as “food of the emperors”. In ancient Egypt, royal jelly was given to the pharaohs.

Shipping is via Royal Mail 1st Class We dispatch orders on weekdays up to 5 pm. Royal mail quote delivery times 1-2 days for 1st class and 2-3 days for 2nd class. Delays can happen, If delivery takes more than 5 working days for a UK order - please contact us immediately. For Europe, orders can take 10-14 Days.
