 Origins of Sea Kelp

There are numerous types of seaweed, broken down into three groups - red, brown and green. The colour represents the amount of light absorbed in the seaweed via photosynthesis, representing how close to the surface the seaweed grows.

Sea Kelp is a type of brown seaweed that grows on rocks underwater. It is the largest type of seaweed with strands growing up to 200m. This seaweed is native to the Northern Atlantic Ocean, particularly the upper section of the ocean. Historically, seaweed was previously known as a 'sea vegetable', with first knowledge of the algae dating back to 600 BC when seaweed was used solely for the King's special guests.

Oxford Vitality uses Ascophyllum nodosum as the source of Sea Kelp in our tablets. Sea Kelp is a natural source of Iodine, as well as Vitamins A, B1 (Thiamine), B2 (Riboflavin), C, D and E. In addition, Sea Kelp is rich in Copper, Calcium, Iron, Magnesium, Potassium and Zinc.

Iodine in Sea Kelp

Sea Kelp is a natural source of Iodine, an essential mineral that is required for our body to function efficiently. The mineral is only required in small amounts to contribute to normal cognitive function, normal energy metabolism (production) and functioning of the nervous system. Iodine is also essential for the production of thyroid hormones and normal thyroid production, and maintenance of the skin.

Our Sea Kelp tablets

Our Sea Kelp tablets offer a natural form of Iodine. Each tablet is only 6mm in size, our smallest tablet. We provide these tablets in four quantities to allow flexibility when purchasing.

If you prefer to take an inorganic alternative (Potassium Iodide), please see our Iodine tablets.

Please note - we recommend that both the 500 and 1,000 tablet options are more suitable for use by more than one person. This is to ensure that you are receiving full use of the product before its expiry date. For one person's use, we recommend the 120 or 240 tablet options.

Always great service

I had a query which was answered promptly and politely as usual with OV. They are a great company and I love that their products are one of the purest,
with few if any fillers.

I have recommended to many friends and they are all happy. Glad to get a kelp tablet to supplement my iodine levels. Keep up the good work.

Of course it’s OK

Of course it’s OK for La Guillotine to do a spread for WOMEN’S Weekly, but if The Monk did something for a Men’s mag then that would be se&m8st.Woxend#i217;s Weekly does a big spread on EVERY new Prime Minister, and most new Opposition Leaders. It would be a huge talking point if Gillard did NOT do the usual Women’s Weekly puff piece.
