What is Vitamin K2 MK-4?
Our Vitamin K2 MK-4 tablets are a form of Vitamin K2. There are nine different forms of Vitamin K2 and MK-4 is the most active form of Vitamin K2 within the body. Vitamin K2 MK-4 is a short-chain version which only lasts for a few hours in the body due to its structural nature. The majority of Vitamin K is stored in the liver, 90% of which is Vitamin K2. The vitamin is converted from Vitamin K1 in the pancreas, testes and arterial walls. Vitamin K is metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine and bile. As well as being present in the colon due to intestinal bacteria, Vitamin K2 is found organically in both animal-based foods and those of a fermented nature. This includes meat, dairy and eggs, and fermented foods such as cheese, yoghurt and natto - a traditional Japanese dish created from fermented soybeans.

The main role of Vitamin K2 contributes to normal blood clotting, vital for the blood coagulation cascade process. Without Vitamin K, the process of building a blood clot would be fairly slow and we would continue to lose blood. Vitamin K is also one of the essential nutrients for the maintenance of bone health, supplementing bone density and working alongside Vitamin D to enhance bone structure.

Certain medications may interact with Vitamin K2, including those for diabetes and anti-coagulants, and Vitamin K2 supplements should not be taken alongside these medications.
We recommend that both the 500 and 1,000 tablet options are more suitable for use by more than one person. This is to ensure that you are receiving full use of the product before its expiry date. For one person's use, we recommend the 120 or 240 tablet options.
